Senior Residential Worker


  • Previous experience of working with ASC, Learning disabilities and mental health issues
  • Enrolled and working towards relevant qualification at Level 3 or above
  • Excellent communication skills
  • IT Skills, excellent literacy and numeracy skills, high standard of documentation and reporting
  • Leadership skills and supervisory experience
  • Ability to inspire, coach, mentor and teach
  • Calm under pressure
  • Be committed to working in a person centred manner 
  • Able to deal with difficult or challenging situations
  • Caring, honest, reliable and committed

  • Own vehicle, full driving licence and business insurance 
  • Experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams and maintaining professional relationships


  • Experience or understanding of the regulatory framework for care services
  • Supervisory or management qualifications
  • Additional communication skills such as makaton
  • Additional qualifications and training in autism, mental health issues, learning disabilities, picture exchange communication system
  • Budget management



Reports To: Registered Manager or Designate

Job Purpose: To support the Registered Manager, Deputy Service Manager and mentor Residential Workers to deliver person centered support to the clients

Key Tasks/Accountabilities:

  • To provide on call support to all locations on a rota basis
  • Respond to and support clients to meet their full potential including creating, maintaining and reviewing care plans
  • Chairing multi-disciplinary meetings as applicable
  • To prepare and conduct supervisions of allocated personnel
  • Work in partnership with junior staff, clients and all stakeholders involved positively in their lives
  • To assist in the recruitment process
  • Ensure that when working with clients that all current legislative, procedural and good practice guidelines are adhered to which promote the clients freedom, choice and independence and reporting where necessary to the Registered Manager or Deputy Service Manager or Designate
  • Assist in the disciplinary process where applicable
  • Use risk assessments to promote opportunities for the clients and increase their autonomy whenever possible and ensure that they are adhered to and reviewed
  • Ensure that all documentation is completed in a person centered manner and adhering to data protection principles and other guidance
  • Be flexible and work a varied shift pattern including sleep-ins and waking nights in all service locations where required
  • Ensure that all quality audit systems are adhered to, completed and maintained
  • Undertake household tasks and life skills activities where appropriate
  • Always contribute to the service positively and constructively and promote and develop the ambassadorial role for all staff
  • Ensure that all staff attend, complete and implement all learning from any training or development sessions that they receive and take on assessor roles as required
  • Undertake any such duties assigned by the Registered Manager or Deputy for the clients or service
